Questacon is holding a "Polar Day" this coming public holiday Monday, 11 June, and Dan is coming along!
Dan will be doing two 30 minute presentations in the Japan Theatre, at 10am and 1pm. He'll be showing lots of slides from his Antarctic trips while talking both about his scientific work and about living in Antarctica.
We will also have talks by Dr Andrew Dowdy, another researcher who has worked in Antarctica. Andrew will be speaking at 11am and 2pm. Both Dan and Andrew will be available after their talks to answer your questions.
Additionally, we will have some hands-on science activities for children in Theatre 2 from 9am to 4pm, and an Antarctic pyramid tent and survival gear in the foyer. There will also be a presentation of Shackleton's voyage in Theatre 3 at 11.30am and 12.30pm.
Questacon's Polar Day is free after admission to Questacon.

Hi I'm Jake. What's it like to live in Antarctica and kind of things do you study?

hi Dan!
Great to see you are still 'berg hopping'. It's been too long since we threw a disc. If you come southwest from greenland, I will travel north to see you from my home in ottawa! All the best,
tot ziens,

Google's Dutch to English translation:

Antarctica. The crew is ontzagwekkend. Ontmoette you Mike? He is Canadian and really funny. The image on your site of the iceberg with a hole seems familiar.

Hello, I’m Jordi Roca Viladrich from Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain). I sent before an e-mail from New Zealand, when I stayed at your sistr's house. I didn't received any answer and I try again.
I would like to introduce myself and show my enthusiasm in joining your organization. I have been traveling for two years and just finished my trip in Ushuaia, with the intention to achieve my dream: working in an Antarctic Program or some Antarctic Cruise.
I studied Sociology and Audiovisual Communication, and I worked in advertising and video production companies. Following that I worked on several social projects as I am devoted to the NGO world. I have always adapted my Information Technology expertise with the different development social projects I have worked for. I also have carried out different activities in my trips and I have several volunteering experiences. Prior to that, I worked as a waiter, cook and cleaner in restaurants and hotels in London . I also worked in a seal rehabilitation centre in Holland , developing the logistics area. And I was a ski instructor too. Furthermore, I have a good command of IT as I studied Audiovisual Communication. I would love to contribute my NGOs experience to the goal of environment conservation of the Antarctica , with the diffusion and communication through IT (presentations, briefings, information speeches, etc.).
I believe that my work experience together with my education and my volunteer activities, would allow me to adapt easily to a position in your organization. It could be said that I’m open to any type of collaboration. I would be very excited to belong to your project.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
